  • There are many weight manufacturers, why should I choose Umax?

We warranty our premium Umax Series against damage due to normal wear and tear in the gym, whereas everyone else excludes this.  We also cover our Umax Series dumbbell handles against bending, and the weight heads from loosening, something  that no other weights manufacturers offer.

Our prices are lower in like comparison within the same product categories as our competitors (premium solid steel urethane weights, custom logo work, economy urethane weight products, etc).

Our lead time is faster and more reliable than our competitors.

  • How are you able to offer a better warranty than your competitors?

We use stronger material, heat-treated alloy steel or a U.S.A. made Stainless Steel Option, to build our dumbbell handles on our premium UMAX series dumbbells, so we can warranty them against bending.

We use a patented fastening system, Dual-Lock, on our premium UMAX series dumbbells and barbells, Dual-Lock assembling system is much more secure and stable than both traditional single bolt system and the newer welded system.

We use a patented notched and urethane filled edge, Dura-Edge, on the entire outer edge of the weight head on our premium UMAX series dumbbells and barbells. This special edge affords extra urethane reinforced at the most common and severe point of impact (the outer edge of the weight head).

  • You cover bent handles on UMAX series dumbbells, why don't cover bent on your Olympic Bars?

UMAX Olympic bars are made of heat-treated alloy steel or a U.S.A. made Stainless Steel option for standing heavy exercise. Before the machining process, the bar has to be heat treated first. The steel bar will be more or less bent by the high temperature of heat treatment. It then has to be forced bent in the opposite direction and kept in this position for a period of time, so that when the bending force is released, the bar will be straightened.   In reverse, a straight bar can be bent under continuous force in a period time.  This happens that someone will leave the Olympic bar loaded on a rack or bench after use, causing the bar to be bent.  Also, any Olympic bar can be permanently damaged if it is dropped from a distance on a rack or weight pins with a lot of weight loaded on it.  For these reasons no one covers bending on Olympic bars for unlimited usage.

  • How are you able to offer lower prices than your competitors on the same or even higher quality level?

Our Dual-Lock fastening system decreases the manufacturing expenses of key weight products. The Dual-Lock technology allows the urethane to be applied to individual weight heads rather than an already built dumbbell or barbell. This means when defects happen in production (inevitably), only the individual weight head will be rejected rather than entire dumbbell or barbell. The Dual-Lock assembly is more efficient and secure than welded assembly that reduces assembling cost.

When a dumbbell is dropped, it will land nearly 100% of the time on the very front outer edge. The Dura-Edge technology adds extra urethane protection to the front edge but without increasing the urethane thickness to entire weight head. Good urethane like we use is a very expensive material. Dura-Edge saves the urethane material cost while increasing the protection to the dumbbells and barbells where it is needed most.  This is smart manufacturing that increases product durability while decreasing the cost.

With Dual-Lock and Dura-Edge technology, we build stronger, more secure dumbbells and barbells for less money than our competitors. We are running a tightly controlled overhead operation by maintaining more direct control of both our overseas and domestic manufacturing that also helps translate into lower prices for our customers.

  • What is the lead time?

This depends on the size and product series of your order, while factoring in cyclical variances for the time of year where more or less orders are placed on an industry-wide basis.  Average lead time for non-custom logo orders are 2 to 3 weeks; while custom logo orders are average about one month. Special orders for Jumbo Dumbbells (over 150lbs) are two months.

  • How can you fill and ship orders so much faster than your competitors?

On top of sufficient inventory, using our modular component technology in our plant in California where we can grab components off-the-shelf and in-house logo production on our premium Umax Series really makes a difference in filling orders of all sizes quickly.

We are Umax and we think we also fill orders faster because we just try harder!

  • There are many ways of custom logo processing, why do you choose Laser Engraving?

Please refer to the comparison table below. We process logos in-house in Southern California and we deliver custom logo orders much faster than our compititors.
